Lola Malcolm

Lola Katherina (Hildenbrand) Malcolm, age 84, went to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in Odessa after a brief illness. Lola was born October 3, 1937, in Higgins, TX.

Lola was the loving wife of Paul “Dick” Malcolm, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage earlier this year.  Strong in her devotion to Christ and an active member at First Baptist Church, Lola ministered to others through the years through Meals on Wheels and Braille ministry, helping binding Bibles for the blind.

During the course of their marriage, Lola and Dick always enjoyed exploring new land.  Traveling in earnest began after Dick’s retirement, enabling Lola to achieve her bucket list of visiting all 50 states.  Desiring to travel abroad the pair journeyed to Europe and the Holy Land.  Particular favorites were Colorado, Hawaii, ancestral homeland Germanic Europe and Jerusalem.

Both at home and while traveling Lola was an avid sportswoman, enjoying bridge, golf, and tennis all while being adept at both catching and cooking stream-run trout.  She always treasured her morning walks to welcome another of God’s glorious West Texas sunrises.

To know Lola was to love Lola. Lola is survived by her cherished husband, two faithful daughters, Kathy Crawford, and Karen Eaton; three grandchildren, Paul Eaton, Paige Tomlinson, and Hunter Crawford; two great-grandchildren with a third in the oven; her sister Esther and husband Gene McAdoo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lola was predeceased by her parents Abraham Hildenbrand and his wife Kate Miller Hildenbrand, brothers Henry, Harry, and sisters Ruth and Hulda Hildenbrand.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Odessa on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
