God called Lonnie Burnett Harrington home early on the morning of Monday, October 4, 2010 after his long courageous fight against Cancer. Lonnie was 78 years old. Odessa, Texas is where he called home for 46 years.
Lonnie B as so many knew him was born on September 11, 1932 in Kennard, Texas to Wright Cunnie Harrington, Sr. and Winnie Richard Hickman. He was the oldest of eleven children. Frank Fay and Willie Fay and wife Debra, Dixie Green and husband Carl, Lillian Harrington, Carroll Harrington and Wright Cunnie Harrington Jr. survive Lonnie.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Wright Cunnie, Sr. and Winnie Harrington Fay and his siblings, Johnny Fay, Harold Fay, Sam Fay, Richard Fay and Genorise Harrington.
Lonnie and Eva Beatrice married on May 21, 1955 in Crockett, Texas of Houston County, where they lived until 1964. To this union, they were blessed with four children.
Lonnie served his country as a soldier of the United States Army. He served from April 1953 to April 1955 during the Korean War. While serving, he received several medals including, Good Conduct, National Defense and Marksman.
Hard work is what Lonnie prided himself on. To make sure his family was taken care of, Lonnie worked as a Tire Serviceman, Truck Driver and Ranch Hand on the Kirkland Family Ranch where he worked for the last ten years of his life.
Lonnies spirit lives on in his wife Bea Harrington of Odessa daughters, Joretha Harrington Lee of Odessa, Linnie Jean Parker and husband Danny of Killeen, Texas, Patricia Ann Gipson and husband Ronnie of Summerton, South Carolina and Debbie Sue Harrington Floyd of Midland. Lonnie had one son, DeWayne Burnett Harrington and wife Debra of Whitney, Texas motherinlaw, Legora White of Crockett, Texas. He also had 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will also continue to carry on Lonnies wit, spunk and family beliefs.
Visitation is scheduled for 68 PM Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
