Lorene Owens

Lorene Routh Owens, age 82, peacefully passed away at Medical Center Hospital on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

She was born in Harmon County, Oklahoma on June 15, 1928 to Roy Newton Routh and Vera Beatrice Routh.

She graduated from Gould High School in 1946. She continued her education at Western Oklahoma State Hospital School of Nursing in Clinton, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated her life to OB delivery at Medical Center Hospital and Womens Childrens Hospital in Odessa. She married Bruce M. Owens, September 5, 1954, in Socorro, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Nathan Routh, her sister, Lovetta Massey, her beloved granddaughter, Shannon Fulcher, and her son, Roy Owens.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Owens of the home brother, Douglas Routh and wife Shirley and family son, Gary Owens and wife Rebecca, and children Selina, Samantha, Gary Jr. and Sabrina daughter Linda Owens Given and children, Erica, Brittany and great grandson, Alex Jewell daughter, Judy Owens and her son Roger. She also held dear to her heart many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 5:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Star Hospice, 620 N. Grant Ave, Suite 100, Odessa, Texas 79761.
