Lori Lynette Turner Mc Nicol, 48, of Odessa passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism on Thursday July 16, 2020 in Midland, Texas.
Lori was born on October 6, 1971 to John and Margaret Turner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended school in Odessa, Ozona, Seminole, and El Paso where she graduated from Eastwood High. She received a master’s in education from the University of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. She was also completing her PhD at Grand Canyon University. Lori worked as a teacher, then an AP in Edgewood ISD for several years before moving to MISD; first at Goddard Junior High and most recently at Parker Elementary School. She was also a member at Crestview Baptist Church in Midland. In addition to being a child of God, Lori was a loving daughter, a joyful niece, a devoted sister, a dependable cousin, an extraordinary mother, a fabulous aunt, the most superb Mimi, a dedicated colleague, and a loyal friend. Her family finds comfort in knowing Lori is at peace with unlimited naps, no due dates, a black card with no limit, and her hot pink sparkly angel wings.
Lori is preceded in death by the love of her life, Jorge Mc Nicol; grandparents, Glenn Ray and Hilda Whitaker, Mary Turner, and John Willard Turner.
Lori is survived by her only child, Alexandra (Allie) Nichole Mendoza, her husband David (Bear) Mendoza Jr.; and her grandson, Christopher (Cub) Jayden Mendoza; mother, Margaret Turner of Odessa; father and stepmother, Johnny and Debbie Turner of Hobbs; sisters, Ami Howsey of Odessa, and Brendi and her husband, Carlos Ortiz of Artesia; brother, Jayson Turner and his wife, Jessica of Odessa; stepbrother, Clay Gamble and his wife, Jessica of Whitesboro.
Lori made a living request that in lieu of flowers that those who loved her buy themselves (or someone they love) a new handbag, accessory, or fabulous gift of their choice.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thank you; to all friends and family who have reached out, sent flowers, plants, food, donations, love and prayers to the family. Special thanks to all medical staff who have ever blessed us with your kindness, knowledge, and compassion while taking care of Lori.
