Louis Elliot

Louis Edward Elliot, age 84, left this world and entered into the kingdom of heaven on January 25, 2015, at 8:14 a.m.

He was born October 1, 1930 in Anson, Texas to Gray Elliot and Laura Elliot Corder.
In February 1947, at the young age of 16, he joined the Air Force. When it was discovered how old he was, he was dismissed in August 1947 to return home. In October of 1948, he enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged in October 1949. He married Betty Williams on July 12, 1952, and to this union, there were three children born: Wayne, Cindy and Charla. He became employed with El Paso Natural Gas in 1953 and he left that job and moved his family to Odessa, Texas in 1969 to become a car salesman and remained in that business until two months before he succumbed to cancer. In his later years of life, he always looked forward to his next meal because he was one of those individuals who truly lived to eat! He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. His memory was pristine until the end. He had the uncanny ability to remember events and things that had happened during his life right down to the exact dates that they took place, from the present until back to his childhood. He kept up with current events and what was happening in the world. He always had an opinion and didn't mind expressing it to anyone whether they agreed or not. As his children will tell you, he was not always "politically correct."

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gray Elliot & Laura Elliot Corder. He was also preceded by his brothers, John and Charles Elliot of Colorado City, Texas and his sisters, Louise Decovic of Abilene, Texas and Rose Derr of Waterloo, Iowa.

He is survived by his son and his wife Wayne & Jackie Elliot, his daughters and their husbands, Cindy & Jim Dodson and Charla and Mike Crawford all from Odessa, Texas. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Christi Russell Haigood of Lubbock, Cody Russell, Michael Crawford, Justin Crawford, and Ashley Crawford Sellers and six great-grandchildren.

The pallbearers are his son, Wayne Elliot, his son-in-law, Mike Crawford and his grandchildren, Cody Russell, Michael and Justin Crawford, and Trent Sellers.

Family will receive visitors at Sunset Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 6-8 pm.

Funeral service will be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 1:00 pm with Johnny Thomason, pastor of Life Change Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
