alignleft Louis Daniel Dan McKay born in Draw, Texas on November 20, 1931 to Louis and Martha McKay; passed away October 1, 2008 at Hospice House.
After attending schools in Draw and Tahoka, Dan served in the Army in Korea. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to Odessa and in 1957 he married Patsy Earline Hammond. They celebrated 51 years of marriage. Dan was employed by Sivalls Tank and various tank companies throughout the years, retiring from Rama Fabrication in 1993. He was a member of Life-Change Baptist Church.
Dan is survived by his wife, Patsy; three sons, Danny and wife Judy of Huffman, Tx., Mark and wife Cindy of Odessa, and Steve and wife Dana of Tahoka, Tx.; a sister, Irene and husband Leon Gillespie of Midland, Tx.; two aunts, Betty Cook of ODonnell, Tx. and Helen Cook of Odessa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis and Martha McKay, and his sister, Maurine Burchell.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 3, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, October 4, 2008 in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Thomason officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in celebration of Dans life to Home Hospice of Odessa andor Life-Change Baptist Church.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
