Loweta Coates

Loweta Mae Coates, 89, of Odessa Texas, passed away on August 10, 2021, in Odessa.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 16, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, with Clay Porter officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Loweta was born in Rule, TX to William and Bertha Newsom on May 3, 1932. She married Charles Coates on January 21, 1952. She was a loving mother and housewife who was always available for her family. She considered herself a homebody and kept herself busy with caring for children and grandchildren, and she also enjoyed gardening. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Loweta was always welcoming and greeted everyone with a smile.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and daughter, Anita Richmond.

Loweta is survived by daughter, Glenda Shoemaker and husband Scott; grandchildren, Rebecca Atkinson and husband Arlan, Brock Shoemaker and wife Olivia, Paige Shoemaker and Leah Shoemaker. Her great grandchildren are Joey Richmond, Tyler Atkinson, Lindsey Atkinson and Willem Robertson; and great-great grandchildren Ariana and Carson Richmond.
