Lucy M. Baeza

Lucy Martinez Baeza, 62, passed away February 3, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Humble, TX after her battle with cancer. Lucy was born November 29, 1946 to Rufus and Alfonsa Martinez.

She was born in Hutto, TX, grew up in Waco and then made her home in Odessa in 1982. She spent many years in the food service industry before changing her focus to housekeeping and providing care to elderly friends. In all her endeavors she always made sure that things were done right the first time. Lucy loved to spend her free time visiting garage sales and finding great deals for her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Carrasco Baeza; parents Rufus and Alfonsa Martinez; daughter Margarita Baeza; and sisters Irene Nunez, Helen Garcia, and Mary Lou Urbano.

She is survived by her companion, Johnny Fernandez Odessa, TX; her son, Manuel Baeza Jr. Salina, UT; 5 daughters, Roxanne Baeza Lewisville, TX, Rosa Linda Alcarese Spring, TX, Melissa Kay Lake and Shaya Gobert Atascocita, TX, and Angela Denise Baeza Odessa, TX; 7 brothers and sisters, Elena Sustaita, Adele Gonzales, Joe Martinez and Gilbert Martinez Waco, TX, Antonia Garza Gatesville , TX, Virginia Torres Dallas , TX , and David Martinez Springfield, MO. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, February 8 from 3-8 pm; Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, February 9 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Odessa.
