Luther Sizemore

Luther Harrell Sizemore, age 88, of Odessa, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the home of his daughter and soninlaw in Odessa.

Harrell was born in Purcell, Oklahoma to Claud and Dora Sizemore on March 19, 1925 and was raised in White Oak, Texas. Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force where he became a B29 pilot. Upon discharge from the Air Force he met Bobbie Welch in Fort Worth, Texas, shortly thereafter, they wed on January 1, 1946, in Kermit, Texas. They moved to Denver City, Texas in 1947, where he went to work for Shell Oil Company. While living in Denver City their two children, John and Judy, were born. After being transferred to Odessa in 1965, Harrell became the maintenance superintendent at the Shell Oil TXL Gasoline Plant in Notrees, Texas until his retirement in 1984. After retirement they moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico in 1985 and lived there until 2003, when they returned to Odessa to be closer to family.

Harrell will be remembered for his undying love for family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie in 2004 his parents brother Haley and sister Frances Stanley. He is survived by one sister, Lenore Phillips of Vernon, Texas son and daughterinlaw, John and Kathy Sizemore of Nocona, Texas daughter and soninlaw Judy and Doug Smith of Odessa four granddaughters, Suzann Griffin, Julie Davis, Jennifer Minyard, and Rebecca Sizemore and six greatgrandchildren, Jase, Bodie, Ava, Miley, Miles, and Graham.

Visitation with the family will be 68 PM Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Sunset Funeral home Chapel with the Reverend Curtis Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Odessa, or to First Baptist Church of Odessa, Music Ministry or Building Fund.
