Luz Dove

Our loving Mom, Luz Dove, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at her home in Odessa, Texas.

Luz was born on March 11th 1927 in El Paso, Texas. She married the love of her life, Winfred W. Dove in 1950 in Las Cruses, New Mexico. They were happily married for 26 years, and she remained faithfully devoted to him for the rest of her life.

Luz was a longtime member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where she dedicated her life to serving God and the church family. Luz inspired numerous generations of children through her position as Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. She shared her love of music by singing in the church choir for many of those same years. Luz served her church behind the scenes as Financial Secretary for 30 years. Luz, and her love of the Lord, will forever be remembered through the lives that she touched and blessed over the years.

Luz was preceded in death by her husband Winfred and son Ed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Gloria Bailey of Odessa, Carol Gandy of Denton, Diana Smith and husband Sonny of Lubbock sister Estella Beckman of St. Louis Missouri grandchildren Monica Elliott and husband John of Aubrey, Christopher Gandy and wife Jackie of Amarillo, Sarah Ward and husband Shelby of Sweden, Ashley Llanas and husband Justin of Lubbock, and Joshua Smith of Lubbock great grandchildren: Maddie, Sophie, Carlie, Eliana, Garison, Reverdy, Landyn, Rihanna, Connor, Lauren, Charlee, and Zaida.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to her caregivers from Home Hospice especially Janice, Victoria and Nieves Snow.

A celebration service will be held at Chapel Hill Baptist Church 1820 E. 52nd Street Odessa, Texas 79762 at 11:00, October 3rd, 2013, with Jeff Box officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Home Hospice of Odessa andor Chapel Hill Baptist Church Childrens or Music Ministry.
