Lyndall Lee Polston, 82, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 in Odessa.
He was born April 2, 1927 in Lockwood, Missouri to Henry Arthur Polston and Flossie Lee Lasater Polston. He was reared in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He entered the US Army during WWII in Germany. After his discharge he returned to Illinois and worked in the oil industry as a roughneck. He moved to Odessa in the early 1950s, later becoming a driller for several Permian Basin drilling contractors. He retired in the late 1980s. He met Jean Halfacre in Mt. Carmel, Illinois; they were married Plains, Texas. He was an active member of University Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Bonita Louise Polston; three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Polston of Odessa; his son, Michael Polston and his wife, Teresa of Princeton, Indiana; Grandchildren, Michele Davis and husband Ronald of Oakland City, Indiana, Laci Holland and husband Johnny of Princeton, Indiana, Desire Weigle and husband Robert of Princeton, Indiana, and Travis Polston of Wesnier, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Michael, Jillian, Brandon, Kwila, Samanda and Lanita; sister, Blanche Grider of Abilene.
Visitation with the family will be 2-4 PM Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Monday, December 21, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Maas officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
