Lynett HughinsSousa died Sunday, January 13th, 2013, at her home in Odessa, Texas.
She was born September 7th, 1948 in Minot, North Dakota to Jack and Gladys Hughins. Lynett was raised on a farm in Tehama County, California and graduated from Corning High School in 1966. Enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended Intelligence school in Fort Hollabird, MD honorably discharged in 1974. Moved to El Paso, Texas in 1978 and became, quite successfully, an Avon representative. Moving to Odessa, Texas, she continued her career as an Avon representative, while reaching her lifelong dream as a Social Worker, and owning her own business, Special Care. There she worked to get her Masters degree in Social Working and began her heartfelt, and quite natural, career as a spirited, vivacious social worker and a teacher at Odessa College.
Lynett and her dog FuFu were the highlight of any visit to her many clients in the Permian Basin. She will be profoundly missed as a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Survivors include her mother, Gladys Hughins her daughter, Mindi King her brother, Steve Hughins and wife Paula all of Odessa uncle, Iver Thon and wife Sharon of Redding, CA. aunt, Ida Oberg of Palo Sedro, CA. Granddaughter, Faith King and two other grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Visitation with the family will be 57 PM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, January 18, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
