Patsy Lynne Norwood was born in Odessa, Texas on August 27,1951. She was the daughter of Wilburn and Jeannie Miles. She grew up in Odessa and attended Ector High School where she was a cheerleader and served on the journalism staff. After high school, she attended Odessa College and was a member of the Las Senoritas De Las Rosas. She received her Bachelors degree from the University of Florida and her Masters from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. She served as a special education teacher, principal, and Director of Professional Development and Human Resources with Ector County ISD, retiring in 2005. She had a special love of children and educators. She married the love of her life, Donnie Norwood, in December of 1993. Donnie and Lynne enjoyed traveling and spending time at their home in Ruidoso.
Lynne was a member of First Christian Church serving in many functions from elder to board president. She enjoyed the Fallen Angels Sunday School Class and missed attending the class the last few months. She was a member of the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center and served on the executive board and in other capacities for 28 years. From 2009, she battled cancer and because of this, she understood the needs of cancer patients and their families. She was a founding member of West Texas Gifts of Hope and was instrumental in the construction of Hope House, a homeawayfrom home for cancer patients to lodge while receiving treatment. A special thanks goes to the doctors and staff of MD Anderson in Houston, Texas Oncology in Odessa, and Home Hospice in Odessa.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie Norwood of Odessa daughter Crystal McLane and husband Keith of Austin son Steve Norwood and wife Jeanette of Weatherford grandchildren Jaakan Norwood and Addy Norwood of Weatherford, granddaughters Brigid McLane and Margeaux McLane of Austin sisters Mary Gail Glover and husband Rickey of Brownwood Deborah Foster of Ft. Worth and brother Buddy Miles of Odessa.
Services are to be held at First Christian Church, 601 N. Lee, at 10:30 Saturday morning, February 22, 2014. Reverend Norman Stolpe will officiate.
