OBITUARY

Mae Ola Elizabeth Johanna Schultz Keel

October 20, 1926 to June 19, 2023

Mae Ola Elizabeth Johanna Schultz Keel, age 96, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Keith Gibbons.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mae was born October 20, 1926, in Holmwood, LA. to George Fred Schultz and Anna Roth Schultz and grew up in Bowie, Texas until graduating high school in 1945.  After moving to Dallas, Texas, Mae met and married the love of her life, James Andrew Keel on May 5, 1946. The couple moved with their four children across Texas and New Mexico and eventually settled in Crystal City, Texas in 1970.  After retirement, the Keel’s moved back to Odessa, Texas in 2007.

Mae Ola was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, James; and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Schultz.

She is survived by her four children, George Harvey Keel and wife Alice, Janna Keel, Travis Keel and wife Diane, Cheryl Keel Douglas and husband Mark; one brother, Gilbert Schultz; five grandchildren, Tammy Keel Doan and Billy, George Greer and Amy, Lesley Keel Clinchard and Rob, Jacob Keel and Sonia and Crystal Keel Ojeda; nine great grandchildren, Christian, Johanna and Jacob Doan, Issac and Ethan Ojeda, Nelson Soto, Amaya Keel, Reese and Bryce Clinchard; and one great-great grandchild, Mateo Ojeda.

Pallbearers will be Mark Douglas, Billy Doan, George Greer, Jacob Keel, Christian Doan, Jacob Doan

Honorary pallbearers will be George Keel, Travis Keel and Gilbert Schultz.

Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
