Manuel Flores

Manuel Flores, age 92, of Odessa was called home to be with our Lord on November 29, 2015.

Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., December 3, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Manuel was born in Fort Stockton, Texas to Manuel Flores and Gavina Ruiz on May 8, 1923. He married Elpidia Davila on August 12, 1951 in Grand Falls, Texas. Manuel worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 40 years from which he retired with many accolades. He was very involved in the parish activities of St. Joseph and St. Anthony Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Gavina, his sisters, Maria Gutierrez, Anita Molinar , Victoria Jordan, Elvira Cabrera, his brothers, Abel Flores and José Flores and his grandson, Elias Flores Guevara.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elpidia Flores of Odessa, his daughter, Maria Elena and Javier Guevara of Odessa, and his sons, Daniel and Yolanda Flores of Dumas, Ruben and Delia Flores of Odessa, Patrick and Connie Flores of Odessa, and Steven and Nancy Flores of Odessa. He is also survived by his brother, Ventura Flores of Odessa, and his sisters, Matilda Jaquez and Paula Holguin both of Odessa. He has 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was a devoted husband and loving father. He will truly be missed by his family and friends. Although words cannot express our loss at this time, we know we were very blessed to have him with us for all these years.
