Manuel Herrera

May 31, 1934 — June 18, 2017

This world has lost a righteous man and in this world that is no small thing! On June 17, 2017 Manuel M. Herrera, 83 years old, received a call from the Lord God. It was an offer he could not refuse because the bonus was a reunion with his lovely and beautiful wife, Grace V. Herrera. Manuel died that day, but now will live for all eternity. He was born on May 31, 1934 in Casa Piedras, Texas to his parents Jesus and Selsa Herrera. While attending Roscoe High School, he excelled as an athlete. After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and took great pride in serving his country. Before serving in the military, he met the love of his life, Grace Valdez from Colorado City. They were consecrated in the Sacrament of Marriage on September 13, 1958. They gave birth to four children: Debra Ann, Danny Rene, David Lee, and Diana Marie.

Manuel Herrera's first type of employment was in the area of construction of new houses (Dry Wall) which he continued to the very day he passed from this world. His work ethic was exceptional, always taking pride in the quality of his work. He was truly a Master in the art of living making little distinction between his labor and his leisure, his family and his friends. He hardly knew which was which. He simply pursued his vision of excellence in whatever he did, leaving others to decide whether he was working or playing. He had an incredible zest, joy and love for life, taking life as it came, never really worrying about anything. If more of us had his outlook on life, this world would be a much better place!

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Selsa Herrera, his sister Connie Rodriguez and her husband Lupe, and Jacob Jimenez his grandchild.

He is survived by his children: Gerardo and Debbie Jimenez and their children Felix Renteria with wife Britney and their children David, Ysabella, Gabriela, Jade, Nicholas; Abby Renteria and her children Ambriah, Aubrey, Alfonso; Kelsie Deanda with husband Marcelo and their children Amerie, Aiden, Austen; Amy Jimenez and her children Addyson, Aaren, Aryani. Danny and Nancy Herrera and their children Adriel D., Danny R., Jade N., Cy D.; Father David Herrera; Mario and Diana Herrera Urias with their children Jordan Evans, Alex Evans with wife Kaity, Mario D. Urias, Marcos Urias, Melissa Arriola, Clarissa Garcia, Terissa Urias; His Sister Jovita and her husband Bernardo Marquez; many nephews and nieces and a great many friends.
