Margaret Forrest

Margaret Ann Johnson Dix Forrest, 82, passed away on June 16, 2021, in Odessa, Texas. Margaret was born on February 28, 1939, to Esta Lee (Andress) and Henry Roy Johnson in Eastland, Texas.

Known affectionately as Ann, Granny, or “Mom” to many, she was loved by all who knew her. She was a homemaker and touched the lives of her children and the many adopted children from around the neighborhood she came to know and love over the years.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Esta Lee Johnson; husband Richard Dix; high school sweetheart and second husband Willie Forrest; and her son Monty Spruill.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Russell D. Shaffer & partner Donald H. Breeden of Odessa TX; brother Ronald Johnson & wife Rhonda of DeLeon TX; grandchildren Bobby Spruill & wife Jana of Odessa; Justin Spruill & wife Kara of Odessa; Paul Shaffer of Houston; Kristen Shaffer of Houston; Jaime Burciaga & partner Danny Guerrero of Los Angeles, CA; Kazumi Burciaga of Odessa; Eric Burciaga of Odessa; Rose Thomas of Odessa; stepson Steven Forrest & wife Cindy; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to Home Hospice of Odessa and Home Care Assistance of West TX.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, from 1-4pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas. A graveside service will take place Monday, June 21, at 11 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas. Mark Bristow is officiating.
