Margaret Gifford

Margaret Gifford, 88 years young, passed away on February 6, 2021, in Odessa, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Margaret Gifford was born in Rio Gallegos, Provincia de Santa Cruz, Argentina to Maria Magdalena Valdes and Enrique Zapico.   She married Frederick William Gifford on October 14, 1950.  They remained in Argentina until 1969, when they moved to New Zealand, then to the United States in 1972, back to Argentina in 1973, and then back to the U.S. in 1976, where she resided in Odessa, Texas until her passing.

She worked as a nurse’s aid at Medical Center Hospital, and at Levis Strauss as a seamstress.  Her main role in life was as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, lovingly known as Mimi.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Magdalena and Enrique Zapico; son, Henry Gifford; grandson, Danny Gifford; and great grandson, Jack Barnes.

Margaret Gifford is survived by husband, Frederick William Gifford of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Mabel and husband Carlos Chamorro from San Bernardo, Argentina; daughter, Brenda Diana Gifford from Odessa, Texas; son, William Alexander Gifford and wife Bethy Gifford from  Marshall, Texas; daughter, Susana Isabel Cleaveland and husband James David Cleaveland from Loveland, Colorado.  Also surviving grandchildren, Steven and Lizet Gifford, Christy Barnes,  Amy and Jason Carrillo,  Yanina and Christian Enriquez,  Martin and Lili Chamorro, Brenda and Daina Chamorro, Beverly Gifford, Shawn and Nila Gifford, William and Donna Gifford, Tony and Rebecca Gifford, Lynn and Robi Haigh,  Chrystal Hudson, and Kyle Cleaveland; and numerous great grandchildren.
