Marjo Pinson Rydell, age 99, beautiful wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, entered heaven to meet her precious Savior on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Kelview Heights Baptist Church in Midland.
She was born Margaret Josephine Pinson to Leah and Edgar Pinson in Tarrant County, Texas on May 6, 1923. But her father quickly nicknamed her Marjo, and that is what she was called from then on by all those who knew and loved her.
Marjo grew up in the Fort Worth area where she met the love of her life, Harold Rydell, and married him on May 15, 1943. Together they lived in many west Texas towns, raised three sons, were charter members of Asbury Methodist in Odessa, faithfully served the communities of Midland and Odessa, and built a beautiful life that honored God.
While her husband was fighting in the Pacific theater of WW2, Marjo served her country and helped the war efforts by becoming a nurse’s aide. She later became a “professional volunteer.” Marjo was one of the earliest volunteers of Interfaith Sewing in Odessa, where she mentored and taught sewing and life skills to underprivileged women in the community and was instrumental in the growth and development of the still thriving ministry. She also chaired the annual United Methodist Women’s Bazaar at Asbury Methodist Church which raised funds for global missions. Marjo lived to serve.
Marjo was a gifted painter and seamstress, an excellent cook, a diligent worker, a hospitable homemaker, a good and devoted wife, and she was wise and faithful. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leah and Edgar Pinson II; her beloved husband of 59 years, Harold; and her two brothers, Edgar Pinson III and Don Pinson.
Marjo will be dearly missed by her sons, Tim Rydell and wife Sheri, David Rydell and wife Carol, and Harold Rydell Jr.; her grandchildren, Marleah Reed and husband Robert, Amy Rydell, Katie Robinson and husband Ronny, Johnny Rydell and wife Natasha, Christy Gotwald and husband Chip, Jake Rydell and wife Ember, and Samuel Rydell; and her 17 great-grandchildren who called her G.G.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Spectrum of Solutions (formally known as MARC) and The Life Center of Midland.
