Margarita " Mage" Talavera

Margarita ‘Mage’ Oyerbides Talavera, 91 of Odessa, TX, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at her home in Odessa, TX, after a short battle with cancer.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 6:00-8:00pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Shawn Smith of Crescent Park Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

The service will be televised on the Sunset Memorial Gardens website for those who cannot attend in person.

Margarita ‘Mage’ Oyerbides Talavera was born in Westbrook, TX, to Mariano and Catalina Oyerbides on November 13, 1930. She married Cresencio Talavera on June 16, 1952, in Carlsbad, NM.

Margarita Talavera was preceded in death by; her parents Catalina Enriquez Oyerbides and Mariano Oyerbides; Siblings Maria Prieto, Alejandro Ramos, Timoteo Armendariz, Faustina Gonzalez, Antonia Prieto, Maria Yfrasia Anaya, Jesusita Pineda, Miguel Oyerbides, Josephina ‘Josie’ Arredondo, Manuela ‘Mela’ Marin, and Emilio Armendariz.

Margarita is survived by her husband; Cresencio Talavera; her children Naomi and Dan Houchin, Joel and Sandra Talavera, Sylvia and Mark Stephens, Israel Talavera, and David and Charla Blain; grandchildren David and Charla Blain, Aubrey Houchin, Stephanie and Joey Grupe, Brian and Rachel Houchin, Brandon and Dayna Blain, Tracey and Ryan Russ, Breanna Talavera, Shelbi and Trae Johnson, Jordan and Sandra Talavera, Nicolas Talavera, Joel Lane Talavera; and great grandchildren Bailey, Colton, Jake and Braydon Blain, Stryker, Dylan and Brix Grupe, Madison Elliot, Talon Geoff, Braxton and Kellen Blain, Braylon, Palmer and Payton Russ, Ashten and Brycen Childs, and Tye Johnson.

Pall Bearers will be David Blain, Brian Houchin, Brandon Blain, Jordan Talavera, Nicolas Talavera and Joel Lane Talavera.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Odessa.
