Margie Lou Myrick McGee, age 85, of Odessa, TX, departed to her heavenly home August 29, 2015.
Margie was born in Jayton, TX, February 24, 1930 to Weldon Haskel and Lou Belle Lee Myrick. At the age of 4 Margie was first prizewinner at Baby Show Palace in Jayton. She attended school in Jayton, where she played on the girl's high school basketball team. Later she was Jayton's phone operator, connecting the party lines between Jayton, Aspermont, Spur and Clairemont, TX.
Margie married Bill McGee in Jayton, March 17, 1952. They moved to Odessa, calling it home for 63 years. Margie loved to fish and had a passion for horses. She also loved to research genealogy. Her favorite music was that of her brother Weldon's steel guitar. She retired from the Sear's catalog dept.
Her parents, her brothers, Texie Gene Myrick and Weldon Merle Myrick, granddaughter, Shelly Kay Smith and son-in-laws, Wayne Smith and Jim Pingelton, precede Margie in death.
Margie is survived by her husband, Bill McGee of Odessa; daughter, Sheila Pingelton of Norman, Oklahoma; son, Bill McGee Jr. of Gardendale, TX; grandsons, Preston and his wife Lisa McGee of Midland, TX, Jarrod and his wife Tabitha McGee of Houston, TX; great grandchildren, Liam and Kaylee of Midland, TX, Faith of Houston, TX; sister-in-law, Judi Myrick of Nashville, TN.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am-8:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be at Jayton Cemetery in Jayton, TX, Friday, September 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
Our mother is rejoicing in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
