Marie Atkinson

Marie Elizabeth Atkinson, 71, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, in Odessa.

Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM. Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell will be officiating.

Elizabeth, often called Nan by her loved ones and friends, was born in Cushing, Oklahoma, on March 18, 1951. She married Allan Atkinson in Odessa, Texas, in 1973.

Nan owned and operated Chubby’s Party Emporium for 45 years in Odessa, Texas. Her business was special not just to the children who sought her opinion on what they should be for Halloween, but also to the many adults she guided through her store to find that perfect outfit. She made many of the costumes that filled the shop, and her grandchildren were always the best dressed at ay costume party.

She had a fun spirit and could decorate any event and make it shine like a diamond. She only closed the doors of the business when her battle with cancer became too much.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allan Atkinson in 1988.

She is survived by daughter, Tracee Robinson and her husband Brad Robinson; her son, Brad Dunnam and wife Tiffiny Dunnam; grandchildren, Chelcee and husband Dylan Porter, their daughter, Nan’s great-granddaughter, Lainey Elizabeth Porter; grandson, Zachary Robinson; and granddaughter, Taylor Jones.
