Marjorie R. Kramer, a long time Odessa resident, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 11, 2009. Marjorie was born January 23, 1921 in Brady, Texas to Nettie Espy Roach and Andrew J. Roach. Her father was a teacher and a farmer, and her mother was a homemaker. Marjorie graduated from high school in Brady, Texas.
In 1939 she married Richard C. Dick Kramer and moved to Odessa. In 1945 they started a business, Engine Service and Supply which is still operated by family members. Marjories business skills and graciousness had an extremely positive impact on the success of their business.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Kramer, in 1995. She is survived by her two daughters, Judy Cobb and husband Vance of Odessa and Kathryn Gatlin and husband Ed of Midland. She is also survived by four grandsons, Clint Kuhlmann and wife Kim and Matt Kuhlmann of Odessa, Alex Campbell and wife Teresa of Rainbow, Texas and Eric Campbell and wife Sue of Dallas, Texas. Other survivors are her beloved great-granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Kuhlmann of Odessa. She is also survived by her brother, Col. Ret. Andrew Roach and wife Marty of Honolulu, Hawaii and their daughters Andrea Waxman and husband Michael of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Karen Brousseau and husband Ron of Honolulu, Leslie Laing and husband Ian of Honolulu. Her greatnieces Naomi Waxman of Milwaukee, Mony Brousseau of Honolulu and great-nephew Kyle Roach-Laing of Honolulu also survive her. A niece, Marjorie Bloom and her daughter and grandchildren, all of St. Louis, Missouri also survive her. Two very special people in her life who became part of her family were her loving and compassionate caregivers, Juanita Sterling and Brenda Rodgers.
Marjorie was a devoted member of Odessas First Presbyterian Church, where she humbly served in many capacities. She was a generous and gracious lady who has left a legacy of love.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church so that the family may greet friends.
Marjorie has requested that memorial gifts be directed to the First Presbyterian Church Outreach and Youth Programs, the Salvation Army, Home Hospice or the charity of your choice.
