Mark McCollum, age 53, of Odessa passed away at his home on Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Odessa.
He was born November 2, 1958 in Lubbock, Texas to Doris Marie and Ira Wilburn McCollum. He was reared in Lubbock and Lake Jackson. Mark began his career as a mechanic in Lubbock with Waynes Auto Service and the Dodge dealership. He joined TxDOT in 1983 in Lubbock. He moved to Odessa in 1992. He was employed with the Texas Highway Department for 28 years and retired in 2011 as the fleet manager for the Odessa and San Angelo district. He was a dedicated avid golfer and in the 70s and 80s he raced cars in Lubbock in the modified dirt class. He was a NASCAR fan always watching and attending NASCAR when possible. Mark was an active member of the Odessa Country Club mastering both courses. He will be missed by his pet, Abby K., who was his dedicated companion.
Survivors include his sons, Mark McCollum, Jr. and Randy McCollum and their mother Debbie McCollum all of Lubbock, Texas his brother, Randy McCollum and his wife Karen of Mansfield, Texas his grandchild, Mark McCollum, III of Lubbock, Texas his partner in life and caregiver during his illness, Cindy Grissom of Odessa and her daughter, Crystal and David Peterson and their son, Dylan of Andrews.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Lauren Garduno and Mike McAnally officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
