Mark Gregory Oliver, age 58, of Odessa Tx, passed away from this life on Monday, July 17, 2023, at home after a long illness. He was born in his grandmother’s home in Greenwood, Mississippi on December 28, 1964, to the late Zolia Cornelius Oliver Sr. and Bernice Buchanan Oliver.
Mark hitchhiked all the way from Mississippi to Odessa, Tx as a teenager to pursue work in the oilfield. He started out working on a pulling unit and worked his way up to be a Production Foreman. He was proud to tell his story of how he worked his way up without a high school education. It was his hard work, dedication, and love for his family that got him to where he was in life! He was a strong, humble, honest, hardworking man. He was a handyman that could fix anything. He loved working on cars, motorcycles, and anything with a motor and passing that knowledge to his grandsons. If there was any way to describe Mark, it would be that HE DID IT HIS WAY!!
He was a real man, they don't make 'em like him anymore! He was our Hero!
Mark met his wife Kathleen (Kathy) Oliver walking down Stoner Road in October of 1982 and instantly fell in love with his Woman! They were later married on October 18, 1984, and had 5 daughters together.
Mark loved anything that led him on an adventure. He was a daredevil and loved to live life on the edge. He loved to travel, gamble, and ride his Harley and four-wheelers. He loved spending time with his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed driving around in the rain, planting and watering his trees and yard, and spending time in the morning and evenings sitting on his front porch that his son-in-law built him. He loved the simple things in life!
Mark is preceded in eternal life by his father, Zolia Oliver Sr.; his mother, Bernice Oliver; grandson, Bryce Padilla; mother-in-law, Neda Robinson (Mom); brother, (Joe) Zolia Oliver Jr.; and sister, Bonnie Spears.
