Marquis Taliaferro

Marquis Eldred Taliaferro, Sr., 92, of Brownwood, Texas, formerly Odessa, TX, passed away on February 22, 2014, in Brownwood, Texas.
Marquis was born in Ozona, Texas to Nellie and Marquis Taliaferro on January 5, 1922. He went to high school in Fort Stockton, Texas. He married Dorothy Nell Scott on November 27, 1941 in Fort Stockton, TX. Marquis served in the United States Army during World War II. Marquis entered into management of Texas Reamer Company in 1961 and he, along with other partners acquired ownership in 1967. By the time he retired in 1981, operations had expanded through Oklahoma, South Texas, and the Rocky Mountains. Marquis was an avid fisherman, hunter and a member of the Elks Lodge. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.
Marquis is survived by his wife Dorothy Taliaferro son Marquis Taliaferro, Jr. and wife, Hattie daughter Charlotte Theaux and husband, Eugene grandchildren Marquis Taliaferro, III and wife, Monica Michael Taliaferro and wife, Dana Kenny Taliaferro and wife, Kelly Chris Taliaferro and wife, Cheryl Jennifer Henager and husband, Chris Michelle Munos and husband, Jason Nathan Theaux and wife, Katie and 13 greatgrandchildren he adored.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Marquis Taliaferro brothers, Jake Taliaferro, Bill Taliaferro and Gordon Taliaferro and son John Taliaferro.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Mark Blau from Menard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Bohannan, Mark Stucks, Mark Fowler, Doug Scott, Chris Henager and Jason Munos.
In lieu of flowers, Marquis and his family request that donations be sent in honor of Marquis Taliaferro, Sr. to the Hospice House in Odessa at 903 N. Sam Houston, Odessa, TX 79762 or to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 772104486.
