Marquis Eldred Taliaferro, Jr., 82, of Brownwood, TX passed away on April 12, 2025, in Brownwood, TX.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 M, on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Blau of Mason, TX, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Marquis Eldred Taliaferro, Jr. was born in Fort Stockton to Marquis Eldred Taliaferro, Sr., and Dorothy Herman on January 14, 1943. He went to school in Odessa, TX. He married Hattie Lou Howell on June 1, 1963, in Odessa, TX. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1961. He worked as a machinist and owner for Blau and Taliaferro Machine, a subsidiary of Texas Reamer, Inc. for 17 years. He then started Markco Machine Works, Inc in 1983 and worked until he retired in 1999. Upon retirement he and Hattie moved to the ranch in Brownwood, TX where he spent his days doing what he loved most, which was his own projects fixing up different parts of his yard and the pond area.

Marquis is preceded in death by his mother and father, Marquis Taliaferro, Sr. and Dorothy Taliaferro; his brother, John Taliaferro; and many uncles and aunts.

Marquis is survived by his precious wife, Hattie Lou Taliaferro; his oldest son and daughter in-law, Marquis Taliaferro, III, and Monica Taliaferro; and their two boys, Marquis Taliaferro, IV, and Mason Taliaferro and his wife Megan Taliaferro; and their two daughters, Harley and Harper; his middle son and daughter in-law, Michael Taliaferro and Dana Taliaferro; and their two children, Courtney Taliaferro and Chase Taliaferro; and his youngest son, Kenneth Taliaferro; and his three children, Justin Taliaferro, Nicole Taliaferro and Jace Taliaferro. His sister and brother in-law, Charlotte and Eugene Theaux.

The Pallbearers will be Marquis Taliaferro, IV, Mason Taliaferro, Justin Taliaferro, Jace Taliaferro, Chase Taliaferro and Nathan Theaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Fowler, Gary Smith, Ricky Johnson, Kelvin Jackson, Derek Kelm, Randal McQueen, Lane Wilson, Alan Bradshaw, Kevin Miller, Mike Bohannan, Scott Winchell, Joe Anderson, and Rick Lewelling.
