Martha Connally

Martha (Wilkinson) Nutter Connally, 78, of Odessa, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on the evening of Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Martha was born on October 30, 1939, in Omaha, Texas, to James H. and Betty Ruth (Beasley) Wilkinson. She and her younger sister, Ann, enjoyed playing outside together. Martha was raised in the church and baptized at the age of six. Her father was a major in the army and the family moved several times throughout her childhood. They eventually settled in Odessa, Texas, where she attended Odessa High School and graduated in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Henry Benjamin "Benny" Nutter, and they were blessed with three beautiful children: Julie, Jimmy, and Lynda. In 1984, she lost her husband in a motorcycle accident. She began working in the county attorney's office at the courthouse, where she found love again. She married the Honorable Judge H. Joseph Connally, and they enjoyed life to the fullest together with their family and friends.

Martha was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and will be dearly missed by many. She was a timeless beauty and an amazing cook. She was her happiest when she was preparing a big feast for her family on holidays and special occasions. Martha loved her family and friends fiercely, and absolutely adored her grandchildren. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman and had the heart of a servant, always taking care of others, both people and animals.

Martha is survived by her husband, H. Joseph (Joe) Connally, of Odessa, Texas; her children, Julie (Nutter) and Terry Hubele, of Houston, Texas; Jimmy and Cindy Nutter, of Odessa, Texas; Lynda (Nutter) and Jerry Creech, of Odessa, Texas; her grandchildren, Loren (Hubele) and Brandon Alexander, of Cypress, Texas; Clayton and Chance Creech, of Odessa, Texas; Tyler Nutter, of San Francisco, California; Lexi Nutter, of San Marcos, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Hayden, Kiellian and Evelynn Creech, of Odessa, Texas; Caiden Creech, of Midland, Texas; Maxton Alexander, of Cypress, Texas; her sister, Ann (Wilkinson) and Sam Meads, of Wheatland, Wyoming; and many, many dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Ruth (Beasley) Wilkinson, and her first husband, Henry Benjamin "Benny" Nutter. She is also preceded in death by her loyal pets, Mimi, Mitzi, Millie and Chaz.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home, 6801 E. Business 20, Odessa, Texas, 79762. Burial will be held privately on a later date.

We would like to carry on her legacy and request that memorials be made in Martha's honor to either Meals on Wheels or the The Humane Society of Odessa.
