Martha Jo Shaw

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Martha was born to Oren and Mattie Morris on September 6, 1936, in Gorman, Texas.  She passed peacefully in her sleep on December 30, 2023.  Martha and her family relocated to the Permian Basin when she was a young child so her father could make a living in the oil fields.  The family spent the first several months after arrival in Odessa, living in a tent until more permanent housing was available.   She attended East Side Elementary, Bowie Junior High School and graduated from Odessa High.  She continued her education at Odessa College.  During her school years she worked at the Ector County Library.  Martha was always very active in her children’s schools PTA and booster clubs as well as teaching Bible classes and volunteering at the Odessa Chamber.  She married Morris Shaw on July 2, 1994, in Odessa, Texas.  She worked as the Business Manager for many years at Dr. Kimbrough’s Orthodontist office until her retirement.   Martha and Morris enjoyed spending their retirement years traveling all over the world but always treasured their many visits to Kaui.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Perry Morris, Dana Shaw, and great granddaughter Alyra Hill.

Martha is survived by her husband, Morris Shaw; Susan and Alan Hill, Hunter and Caite Hill, Garrett Hill, Steven Lancaster, Terri and Randy Vaught, Alan and Kara Vaught, Kyle and Mackenzie Vaught, Deanna Hoerauf, Megan and Bubba Vaughan, Michelle and Dustin Strum, Lauren and Carson Arrington, Lindsey Shaw, Kim Manno and Ernesto Valderrama, Lizzy and Tom Beecher, and Garret Manno. 

Martha is also survived by 10 wonderful great grandchildren.
