Marvin E. Buck, age 84, of Odessa, TX, passed away on October 26, 2016 in Odessa.
Marvin was born November 29, 1931 to John Claud and Mary Lena Buck in Ft. Worth, TX. He joined the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict and served from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Philippines, Japan and later in the United States. He joined The Firm of Freese and Nichols Consulting Engineers in 1958. In 1974 he was sent to Freese, Nichols and Esmond in Odessa to work there for a short time. He was once again sent to Odessa in 1975 to help their office, he stayed into 1976. During that time he met Thelma Black, owner of "Thelma's Café", located at Fourth and Washington. He decided to transfer to the Odessa office. He and Thelma married July 2, 1976. He retired from West Texas Consultants in 1999, who had changed the company name from Freese, Nichols and Esmond to West Texas Consultants. He joined The Firm of S.W. Howell Engineering in 2001 until his retirement in 2011.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, John Claud and Mary Lena Buck; sisters, Luzell Whitlock, Celesta Gosdin; brothers, Grady and Herschel Buck.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Buck; sons, Bobby L. King and wife Holly of Colleyville, Michael E. Buck of Ft. Worth, TX; daughter, Terrina Daun Picarello and husband, Tony of Chandler, Arizona and five grandchildren.
Marvin was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He also was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4372 in Odessa.
Graveside Services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Reverend Aubrey Phillips and Reverend Jeff Cleere officiating.
