Marvin Kruschke

Marvin Reinhardt Kruschke, Sr. 88 of Odessa, died at his home March 30, 2008. He was born March 26, 1920 in New Ulm, MN to Otto Frank and Ellen Jane Reikie Kruschke. He was reared and educated in Breckenridge, MN. He entered the US Army Air Corp in 1941. He earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant Pilot AT-6, and served as an instructor in basic flying. He also was an instructor on the B-29 control of operation of the four engine planes, consumption of fuel in flight and supervised the maintenance of all aircraft. He was discharged December 14, 1945. While in the Army he married Joyce Adene Thomas on July 5, 1942. After the war he became a private pilot until joining Baker Oil in 1953 as a service engineer. He retired after 29 years in 1982. After retirement he established his own machine shop, R R Industries, where he invented numerous oil field devices, he holds one patent. The Kruschkes lived all over the United State until returning to Odessa in 1987. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Marvin Kruschke, Jr., grandchildren Marvin Kruschke III and Janell Kelting, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Joyce Kruschke and his daughters, Marilyn Jones and husband Lewis of Odessa, TX., Dia Kelting and husband Joe of Portales, NM. His grandchildren; Josh Kruschke, Scott Kruschke, Joe Kruschke and wife Sara, Eden Anne Smith and husband Steve, Jim Jones and wife Kay, James Jones, Joyce Jones, and Hobie Kelting. Great-grandchildren; Elizabeth, Samantha, Zoey, Alison, Austin, Samira, Tyler, Cody and Kristen.

Gravesides with military honors are set for 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Joe Kelting, his son-in-law will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
