Mary Aguilar-Saffell

Mary Helen Aguilar-Saffell, a loving house-wife and mother, died at home peacefully in her sleep, August 15th 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born August 30th 1947, in the town of Slaton, Texas, to the late Tiburcio and Manuala Ybarra, she attended Zavala Grade school and graduated from Ector High School in 1966.

She was a licensed beautician and successfully worked as a Police Service Representative before becoming a house-wife.

Mary is survived by her husband, R.C. Bear Saffell, her son and his wife, Lawrence and Carol Aguilar of Odessa; her daughter Laura Sanchez of Odessa; her daughter and her husband, Ashley and Lonnie Carrasco of Odessa; her daughter and husband, Jordan and Devon Pelzer of Kingsville,Tx; 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Sierra, Brittany, Haley, Jeremiah, and Journee; one great-granddaughter, Teryn all of odessa ; two sisters, Eleanor Lee of Lubbock,Tx and Lupe Garza of Odessa, and four brothers, Johnny, Tiburcio TG, Mike, and David Ybarra of Odessa, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Gilbert Aguilar, and one sister, Betty Ortiz.

Viewing for Mary Helen Aguilar-Saffell will be come and go. Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home,6801 E Hwy 80 Odessa,Tx 79761. Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Josephs Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating.
