On Monday, February 28, 2022, our beloved mother, Mary Helen Garza was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary was born to Amando and Elida Lopez on July 10, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rogelio Garza; father, Amando Lopez; mother, Elida Lopez; brother, Cristobal Lopez; grandson, Andrew Santos; and great-granddaughter, Alaina Velasquez.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Todd-Turner and husband Macky of Odessa, Texas, and Livy (Lavinia) Garza and husband Egnacio of Odessa, Texas; as well as son, Robert Todd and his wife Brenda of Amarillo, Texas.
Our beloved mother also leaves behind her siblings, Armando Lopez and wife Elsa of Denton, Texas, Janie Wilson of North Richland Hills, Texas, Rick Lopez of Amarillo, Texas, Linda Lopez of Lubbock, Texas, Esmeralda Ortiz and husband Gus of San Antonio, Texas, Elizabeth Lopez of Lubbock Texas, Cynthia Briseno and husband Luis of Plano, Texas, and Marina Carrillo of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Mary, also known as “NaNa”, leaves behind ten grandchildren who loved her spunky attitude, and they will cherish the time she spent with all of them. {Samantha Sotelo (Saul) of Abilene, Texas, Patrick Barrandey of Odessa, Texas, Alexa Guerrero (Jonathan) of Midland, Texas, Emily Guerrero (Manuel), Brooksy Lopez, John Mathew (Danielle), Katelynn Jackson (John) of Austin, Texas, Jakob Todd of Amarillo, Texas, Kalob Todd of Amarillo, Texas, and Ignacio Guerrero, Jr. (Elizabeth) all Odessa, Texas.}
“NaNa” had 10 great-grandchildren as well, and she had a special relationship with each of them, and they enjoyed spending time with her. Near or far, they held a special place in their hearts for their NaNa. {Ayden, Alec, Andre, Angel, Stefen, Dash, Manuel, Rose, Noah, and Camilla.}
Our mother was the most giving person and was always there to help our family. Her laugh was contagious, she was strong and no matter what, she always smiled. She enjoyed knitting, playing dominoes, cards, and she enjoyed going to casinos, but most all she loved shopping through QVC (LOL!). Mary also had friends who she enjoyed talking with. Mary was also very feisty and sassy, but most of all funny. We will never forget her big smile and contagious laugh.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Reddy and his team at DaVita, as well as Dr. Li, and the staff at MCH.
Most of all, we would like to give our heart-felt thanks to her granddaughter Emily Guerrero, good friend Yari Madrid, and son-in-law Egnacio Guerrero for taking such great care of our mother; and to Emma Aguilar, for transporting our mother to DaVita.
Revelations 21:4
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
