Frances Johnson Haynes, age 77, of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Odessa, TX.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Crossroads Fellowship with Griffin Jones of Crossroads Fellowship officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Frances was born in Sylvester, TX on March 12, 1936. She was raised by her mother, Lorena Pursley and stepfather, Woodford Pursley. She attended schools in Sylvester and Monahans and graduated from Roby High School. She married Howard Johnson and together they raised two sons and a daughter. She worked most of her life in the automobile industry, as an executive assistant at Ormand Industries and started Car City.
She currently was owner of Midland Odessa Auto Auction for over 25 years and became a successful business woman in a mans business world.
Some of her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her shopping trips each Saturday to Chicos. Her favorite time of year was Christmas so she could lavish her family with surprise gifts. She had a most generous spirit that was bestowed upon her employees and friends. Her favorite memoires included her trips to Mexico, Las Vegas, Dallas and Ruidoso, or anywhere she could shop. Her license plate read She who dies with the most clothes wins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Frances is survived by one daughter, Starla King and fianc Rick Flanagan and two sons, Shan Johnson and wife Telene, and Kye Johnson and wife Deborah, all of Odessa grandchildren, Tori Lange and husband Cody of Springtown, Paul King and wife Amanda of Odessa, and Jaide Johnson of Odessa. One great granddaughter, Ainsley Lange. She is also survived by her best girlfriends, Claire, Billie, Phyllis, Ann, Marie and Jan.
Pallbearers will be Luis Gomez, Archie Rollie, Lelard Wood, Rick Goegory, Richard Thomason, Austin Keith, Bobby Swanson and honorary pallbearer, J.W. Denham.
Memorials may be given to West Texas Oncology.
