Mary Juanita Kiker, 82 of Odessa, TX passed through the heavenly gates on Saturday, May 07, 2011 at the Hospice House. She was born October 24, 1928 in Stamford, TX to the late Andrew Franklin and Opal Lee Stevenson Griggs.
She was a cheerleader for Odessa High School in the fall of 1946 when the Bronchos won their only State Championship. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Loyd Kiker and was later blessed with two sons, Kenneth and Danny Kiker. She worked for JC Penney for thirty four years and was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church, where she loved and served the Lord.
Juanita brought joy to all who knew her with her loving spirit, dependable faith and quiet strength. She was always there in times of need with her generous love and helping hands for her family and many friends who adored her. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been graced with her beautiful smile.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kenneth Kenny, sister, Jodie McCuistion and grandson, Jeremy Kiker.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Kenneth Kiker son, Danny Kiker and wife Norma of Odessa brother, A.C. Griggs and wife Arlene of Tulsa, OK grandson, Kenneth Kiker Jr. of Odessa, Dustin Kiker and wife Amber of Odessa, Toby Kiker and wife Krystal of Odessa, Austin and Jordan Barron of Clyde, TX granddaughters, Jennifer Christie and husband Damien of Odessa and Stacey Collett and husband Brian of Odessa greatgrandchildren, Kiley and Kalen Kiker of Cristoval, Alissa and Brooke Kiker of Odessa, Haley Christie of Odessa, Trista Kiker of Odessa and Braiden Collett of Odessa.
We rejoice that she is in heaven and free of any pain or suffering and look forward to seeing her again someday.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 9, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Clydel Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
