Mary ‘Luz’ Lara, age 48, born in Odessa, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2023, at Mid Cities church with Pastor Daniel Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow with pastor Isidro Ponce officiating at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Luz was born in Odessa, Texas, to Fidencio and Mary Martinez on October 10, 1974. She married Jimmy Lara on October 17, 1992, in Plains Texas. She worked as a Registered Nurse in dialysis for 20+years. She loved to spend time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She received a magna cum laude award when graduating nursing school.
Luz is proceeded in death by her mom, Mary; her father, Fidencio; her brothers, Fidencio Jr and Manuel.
Luz is survived by her husband, Jimmy; children and their spouses, Emily and Edward, Melissa and Rapheal, David and Beverly; siblings, Francisca and Julian; grandchildren, Sophiah, Xzaydrian, Dominic, Nehemiah, Axton, Emma’lee, Josiah, ZuLee, and a baby boy she was excited to meet in September.
Pallbearers will be her husband Jimmy, son, David, sons-in-law, Rapheal, Edward, and brothers-in-law Jacob, & David.
