Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Mary Culvahouse Lawson went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 13, 2012 at the Hospice House of Odessa, Texas. Mary was born June 1, 1939, in Royalty, Texas to James Sewell and Eula Mae Culvahouse. Mary was 7 of 8 children. She was raised in Kermit, Texas. She married the love of her life, Don Lawson on January 30, 1958. She spent the majority of her years supporting, caring for and mothering all of her loved ones. Mary enjoyed nothing more than to take care of everyone around her, especially her grandchildren, who held a very special part of her heart. She worked at Bealls department store for many years were she enjoyed interacting with all the customers. She was remarkably strong in the last few years of her life were she battled a number of health issues.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, James and Eula Culvahouse, her brother and sisters Dorothy Phillips, Eugene Culvahouse, and Lucille Granbery. She is survived by her husband, Don Lawson, of Odessa, Texas. Her two sons, Jack Lawson of Odessa, Texas, and Dan and wife Susan Lawson of Fulshear,Texas. She also dearly loved and mothered her chosen children, Prissy Pollet and sons, Jason and Scott Weaver of Rockford, Alabama and Billy Bob Galberth of San Angelo, Texas. And of course her special babies her grandchildren, Heather Cearley and husband Cole, Hillary Lawson, and Hunter Lawson, all of Sonora, Texas, and Danali Lawson of Waco, Texas and one greatgranddaughter, Lynden Cearley of Sonora, Texas. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters including Bill Culvahouse, and wife Alice, of Brownfield, Texas, Wayne Culvahouse, and wife El Wanda, of Midland, Texas, Florence Norwood, of Odessa, Texas, Beverly St. Germain and husband J.J., of Alamogordo, New Mexico. She also had many other special nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would also like to express a special thank you to Voila Laura for not only styling her hair but sharing Gods Love with her for thirty plus years. The family would also like to express additional thanks to Dr. Alim Ladha, the neurosurgeon and his staff at Odessa Medical Center that took amazing care of Mary and her family.
Visitation will be 57pm, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 4pm, Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
