Mary Milam

On Sunday, September 29th, 2024 Mary Margaret Milam entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior at the blessed age of 91.

A public visitation celebrating her life will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 8th from 5:00-7:00. A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Mary was born on March 2nd, 1933 to Margaret and Earl Bone in McCamey, Texas. She attended McCamey schools, graduating in 1951. On March 1st, 1952 she married the love of her life Jack Milam. Throughout her life in McCamey, Mary proudly served in the Badger Band, being on the majorette team, playing saxophone, and winning Homecoming Queen. Mary and Jack were active members in the McCamey community until they moved to Odessa in 1965. They were richly blessed with 43 years together and had three children; son Mike Milam, daughter Jacque Milam, and son Jay Milam.

Mary and Jack were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Odessa, Tx. Mary proudly served in the Junior League of Odessa and as President of the Permian Basin Study Club along with many programs for their church.

Mrs. Milam was affectionately known as “Mamaw” by her much-adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do was take her sweet Stella and Maverick around in her retirement home to give hugs to all the residents.

Some of Mary’s greatest joys were listening to Jimmy Swaggart and spending time with her family. Her immediate family includes son Mike Milam and Brenda Dennison, daughter Jordan and Colby Hardin and granddaughter Harper; Jay Milam of Dallas, and sons Jack and Cody Milam; granddaughter Tori and husband John Donaldson, and children Stella and Maverick.

Mrs.Milam is survived by several of her loving extended family members including sister in law Peggy Bone of Dallas, nephew James Earl Bone and Marlene Cannon; Niece Maribette and Max Mainord of Andrews, and many adored nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart.

Mary is preceded in death by her precious daughter Jacque Lynn, husband Jack Milam, brother Jim Bone, sister Erlene and husband Curtis Thomas, niece Jolene, and nephew James Curtis.

Mary’s family would like to thank St.David’s, Suncrest Hospice, and Marleny Call and team for the dedicated care and comfort that has been provided to them in their time of loss.
