Mary Parker

May 15, 1932 — September 15, 2015

"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Mary Parker embodied this scripture. She was gifted at identifying the greatest needs of a person and always strove to help meet those needs. In a world that is often quick to pass judgment, Mary will always be remembered for being open-minded and encouraging others to love who God created them to be. The door to her home was always open, and those who entered were always made to feel as though they were part of the family.

Mary had a love for learning and pursued knowledge her entire life. She valued education and was a remarkable teacher that delighted in sharing her knowledge and talents with others.

Mary was feisty, funny, compassionate, and creative. Those who had the honor and delight of knowing Mary had their lives greatly enriched by their time and experiences with her. She exemplified love and compassion-selflessly sharing all that God had seen fit to bless her with.

Mary Dean Stewart Parker was the daughter of Adrian and Lorene Stewart and was born in Brownfield, Texas on May 15, 1932.
She married Floyd Parker on November 28, 1947. They had seven beautiful children together - Catherine Shook, Priscilla Williams, Fred Parker, Betty Lange, Peggy Parker, Bruce Parker, and Gayla Neufeld.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Parker, her daughter, Peggy Parker, and her grandson, Dustin Parker.

She is survived by three sisters and two brothers. Mary leaves behind a living legacy of six children, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Mary passed away at 7:00 p.m. on September 15th in Odessa, Texas.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5401 John Ben Sheppard Parkway in Odessa, Texas with Bishop Coombs officiating. A graveside committal will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the service for those who wish to pay their final respects.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in Mary's name.
