Mary Smiley

Mary Helen Smiley, age 82, passed away on March 26, 2019 at 12:40 AM at her home in Odessa, TX. surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 with Pastor Bob Thayer officiating.

Mary Helen was born in Hemphill County, TX, to David and Mary Stanford on August 19, 1936. She married Harold P. Smiley on March 11, 1954 in Borger, TX. They then moved to Hobbs, NM, and from there settled in Goldsmith, TX. She received a Cosmetologist/Instructor license and began her career at Kirk's School of Cosmetology. Later she began teaching at Lee High School in Midland, TX. At retirement, Mary Helen and Harold P. moved to Bella Vista, AR, and spent many years there bowling together and making many friends. Mary Helen returned to Odessa, TX in January of 2015 after her husband passed to with be her family.

Mary Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Harold P. Smiley; daughters, Nancy Lee Smiley and Mary Ann Smiley; parents, David and Mary Stanford; brothers, Aaron Stanford, Dennis Stanford and Johnny Stanford and sisters, Ollie Stidham and Janie Rowe.

Mary Helen is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Raney and husband Tim Raney of Odessa, TX; her son, David Smiley of San Angelo, TX; brothers, Jerry Stanford and Derrell Stanford; sisters, Cordie Knight and Opaline Flood; her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, Nancy Osborne and Husband Shannon, Frankie Raney and Wife Brittany, Amanda Whitlock and Husband Bobby, Amber and Husband Marty Lujan, Genesis Osborne, Shelby Osborne, Samantha Osborne, Caitlin Kerr and Jordan , Colby Kerr and Andrea, Taylor Raney, Olivia Raney, Spencer Raney, Kendra Whitlock and David, Tristan Whitlock, Kelsea Whitlock, Bryson Whitlock, Madisan Whitlock, Averie Lujan, Audrie Lujan, Audyn Kerr.
