Mary Anne Unruh, also known as Granny, was born in Garber Oklahoma on August 6, 1928, to her loving parents Clarence and Mable Riggs. She attended Garber High School where she played on the state champion all girls football team in 1946. She married her husband, Leslie Allen Unruh in 1947 in Garber Oklahoma, which led to 75 beautiful years of marriage and an amazing, loving family. Mary is now reunited with Les who also left his family in late January of 2023. Anyone who knew Mary knew she was the matriarch of the family. Mary loved spending time with her family, whether it be a big family gathering or just an unexpected visit. Anytime you had a rough day, Mary was the one to go to. Whether you were needing an infamous “granny hug” or a comforting meal, she was there. Anytime you stopped by her house to visit, unexpected or not, there were 2 things you could always guarantee. 1: That her house was completely spotless, there was never a mess in sight, and 2: there was always a puzzle laid out, color coordinated, that she just couldn't put down. If there was anything Mary ever looked forward to, it was going to Church on Sundays, and even after COVID, she found a way to bring the church to her by watching it on TV. Mary was a very strong woman and also, at times, very stubborn. If she was not feeling well or had a rough day, you would never know. The only thing that everyone did know was that Les was not allowed in the kitchen if Mary was cooking. She always showed her strong side towards her family, but we know she deeply appreciated all the help from Kim, Deana, and Kristi that they offered her in her last year of life. Mary will be missed by everyone she has left behind.
Mary is Preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Allen Unruh; parents Clarence and Mable Riggs; 2 brothers, Lyndale and Theo; and 2 sisters, Mildred and Opal.
Mary is survived by her 2 children, Roger Unruh and Kim Unruh Holmes; 2 grandkids, LaDeana Houston (Philip Houston) and Kristina Ogas (Allen Ogas); 5 great grandchildren, Preston Horton (Paula), Garrett Wheeler, Tanner Houston, Kaylynn Kent (Tyler Kent), and Landen Ogas; 3 great-great grandchildren, Liam Horton, Elliana Horton, and Koen Kent; and 2 nieces, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Preston Horton, Garrett Wheeler, Tanner Houston, Tyler Kent, and Landen Wheeler.
