Mary Vickrey-Emery

Mary Alice VickreyEmery passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her home in San Antonio.

Mary was born May 2, 1940 in Clarksville, Texas to Hugh and Grace McLendon. In 1957, she married Clyde Vickrey and together they had four children. Mary was a Baptist, and a member of Temple Baptist Church. She attended Odessa College and received her degree as an LVN. After moving to San Antonio, she continued her work as a nurse. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at Northeast Baptist Hospital and the Majestic Theater.

In 1993, she married Donald Emery. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was surrounded by dear friends in San Antonio and she cherished those friendships.

Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Jack McLendon.

She is survived by her children, Melinda Lee and husband Jerry, Alan Vickrey and wife Cathy, Gregg Vickrey and wife Sally, and Michelle Vickrey sisters, Liz Hagedorn and Sheila McLendon and brothers, Danny McLendon and Stevie McLendon. She leaves behind six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mary was a loving mother and grandmother and memories of that love will be with us always.

The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Thursday, April 21, 2011 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with Reverend David Newton officiating.

Memorials may be made to Permian Basin Rehab Center, 620 N. Alleghany, Odessa, Texas, 79761.
