Matt Oehlschlager, 54, of Odessa, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at BCA Care Center from natural causes.
Matt was raised in Odessa and continued his education in Houston, Texas. Matt was a pilot and jump master with DP Cooper Rating, and was a senior rigger he was also a professional sound technician and was using that talent at Cross Roads Fellowship Church recently and loved playing his Stratocaster and trained as a luthier.
Matt is survived by a son Andrew Butler, his mother Jimmie Nell Oehlschlager and an uncle, Dr. Ted R. Brannen sisters, Cindi Oehlschlager of Austin, Texas, Celeste Gilliam and husband Vance of Odessa, Colleen Oehlschlager of Odessa brothers Bobby Oehlschlager of Denton, Texas, Dr. Richard Oehlschlager of Boise Idaho, and Susan Pittman of California. Also surviving him are nephews, Kyle Gilliam, Garrett Oehlschlager, and Charlie Oehlschlager.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 2 4 P.M. Funeral services will be at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel,at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 25, 2010, by Steve Digby of First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens
