Our loving caring, generous, thoughtful father, Maurice M. Brown, age 99, of Odessa, TX, passed away on July 16, 2020 at Focused Care of Lamesa Nursing Home.
Maurice was born in Okmulgee, OK on December 2, 1920. He graduated from Longview High School and attended Kilgore College and Texas A&M for 3 years. He married Addie P. Johnson on December 1, 1944 in Longview, TX. He worked as a bookkeeper at his father’s family laundry and dry-cleaning business during summers from 1931 to 1942. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Corps. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He was involved in the PBMA (Permian Basin Motorcycle Association) in Odessa.
Maurice is preceded in death by his wife, Addie, his son, Steve, parents, George and Mitzi Brown, brothers George, Philip. Malar, Rob and sister, Margaret.
He is survived by his son, Mark and his daughter, Suzanne and grandsons, Alexander and Michael; niece, Sarah Brown of New Orleans.
Maurice had a passion for being a mechanic and was a mechanic at various businesses in Dallas and Odessa. He was the owner of a local motorcycle business, Honda of Odessa Dealership. His interests included motorcycling, traveling, driving, drawing and camping. He played the saxophone in the high school band. He helped his children and grandchildren whenever it was needed at a moment’s notice.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
