Mayra Valverde, 22 of Odessa died January 27, 2009 she was born October 20, 1986 in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico to Arnulfo and Maria Navarrete. The family moved to Portales, New Mexico in 1996 then to Odessa in 2000. At the age of 16 she graduated from the Odessa Career Center. Mayra earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of the Permian Basin in May 2006. She was an AVID and ESL teacher at Alamo Junior High School in Midland. She married Manny Valverde in Odessa on August 6, 2005. Mayra was one of Jehovahs Witnesses attending the West Spanish Congregation. She loved teaching the kids and had a love for Jehovah and teaching others Jehovahs promises.
Survivors include her husband Manuel Manny Valverde, Jr., her parents Arnulfo and Maria Navarrete , brother, Ismael Navarrete and sister Maribel Cereceres and husband Armando all of Odessa. Her in-laws Manuel and Grace Valverde, Sr. and brother-in-law Isaac Valverde all of Midland. Grandparents Israel and Elvira Navarrete, Sr. of Ojinaga, Mexico and Magdalena Carrillo of Chihuahua City, Mexico as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Friday, January 30, 2009 at MCM Grande Hotel Ballroom C ; 6201 E. Highway 80, please enter from the East Entrance, Elder Renato Galindo of the West Spanish Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses Kingdom Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 7:00 PM Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home, with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM.
