Melba Bowers, 69

On Monday April 7, 2008, Melba Mimi Bowers of Odessa passed away. Her memory will continue to live in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Melba was born Nov. 27, 1938, in Monahans Texas. She married Troy Bowers on November 27, 1958, in Odessa.

Melbas one true love was her family. It has been commented by more than one person that Melbas love, devotion and attentiveness to her husband was truly amazing. After the passing of Troy, her health and general outlook steadily declined. If ever anyone died of a broken heart it is Melba Bowers.

Together Troy and Melba built a network of friends and family that learned quickly how to enjoy life. Whether Melba was telling a story or a story was being told about Melba- it was always a tale worth hearing. Her quick wit and love for the spotlight will be sorely missed.

Melba was a member of the American Legion and in the past, very active in the Democratic Party and Flag Day. Melba is preceded in death by her husband, Troy and her son Ricky Bowers, brothers Wilford, Charles, Donald, and Sister Barbra.

She is survived by her son, Ron Bowers; grandchildren, Brandon Bowers, Shane Bowers, Paige Eichman, Brett Bowers, Leah Showers, sister-in-law, Sallie White, and brother, Arthur Lynn White.

Services will be held Friday, April 11th at 1:00pm, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
