Mercedes Baeza

Mercedes Chavez Baeza, 60 of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Hospice House in Odessa, Texas.

Mercedes stood 4 foot 10 inches in stature, but her loving heart made her a giant amongst friends and family. Born June 21, 1948 in a border town by the name of Candelaria, Texas, to Juan Chavez and Luisa Jurado Chavez, she would later marry Filomeno L. Baeza. This union brought forth three sons. Dedication to family was her lifelong duty. Mercedes was a Seventh Day Adventist and she awaits her Savior on that glorious resurrection day.

She was preceded in death by her husband Filomeno Baeza, her parents Juan and Luisa Chavez and a brother Ruben Chavez.

Survivors include her brothers and sisters, Ramon Chavez, Reyes Chavez, Eugenio Chavez, Juan Chavez, Joe Chavez, Reynaldo Chavez, Maria Dulces Carrasco, Concepion Nunez, Rafaela Lopez and Emilia Muniz; sons and daughters, Filomeno and Elda Baeza, Fabian and Deborah Baeza and Fernando Baeza; grandchildren, Blanca Rosa Baeza, Ana Luisa Baeza, Filomeno Baeza, Flavio Baeza and Isabel Baeza.

Visitation and a Remembrance Service will be held Friday, January 30, 2009 from 5-8 PM in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, January 31, 2009 in Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Fernando Villegas officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
