Meta Troutz

March 11, 1926 — July 1, 2016

Almeta Wandell (Meta) Troutz, 90 of Odessa, Texas passed away on July 1, 2016. Meta was born March 11, 1926 to Clyde and Esta Harmon in Sherman, Texas. She married her high school sweetheart, Ed Troutz, on Oct. 4, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma. During WWII, they lived in California, where she worked as a civilian courier delivering classified documents to the ships.

They moved to Odessa, where Meta was active in the community. As a member of the Tanglewood Church of Christ in Odessa, she and Ed co-founded Helping Hands, where they distributed food to needy families. She had a heart of gold and was happiest when helping others.

Her life was one of tremendous courage and strength. She overcame many obstacles to be so AWESOME and was dearly beloved by all. Her love for the Lord was felt by everyone whom she met.
Meta had a love for sports, including amateur events featuring her kids and grandkids. Also, she was a staunch supporter of Permian football. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, with college football as her favorite.

One highlight was working as an extra in the Friday Night Lights movie. She arrived at the set bedecked in her Panther attire, including Mojo shoes and football purse. Laughingly, they said that there was no way to enhance her costume.

Her family would be remiss if we did not sneak in a resounding MOJO to our amazing matriarch.
Her love of sports paled in comparison to her love for family. She celebrated every holiday with huge meals that showcased her cooking skills.

She spent 19 years assisting the family endeavor of selling fireworks for Truckload. Her favorite hobbies were fishing and gardening.

Meta is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Esta Harmon, husband Ed Troutz, her sister Mary McKnight, eldest son Ronnie Troutz, and granddaughter Kaysie Guynn.

She is survived by her sisters Flossie Dunlap and Wanda Mims, daughter-in-law Diane Troutz, daughter Kim Guynn and husband Doug, son Charlie Troutz & wife Lauria; she was "Mamaw" to her grandchildren: Denelle & David Farmer, Rusty & Amy Troutz, Chris & Janeen Guynn, Kody Guynn, Dustin & Tiffany Troutz, and Kylie Troutz. She was "G-Maw" to her great grandchildren: Dalton & Dakota Farmer, Aubrey & Makenzie Troutz, Ethan, Aeryn & Kathryn Guynn, and Jace & Lane Troutz.
