Michael Lee McCain “Zax” of Midland, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be at 4:00 PM, on December 21, 2023, at Tanglewood Baptist Church, 3737 Tanglewood Lane Odessa, TX, with Lyndel Lee officiating.

Zax was born on September 4, 1969, in Paris Texas to Gene and Katherine McCain. Gene widowed and later married Karen Richards. Who had the pleasure of raising Zax. She was known as Mom.

He married Denia Voorhies on April 16, 2016.

Zax graduated from Crane High School in 1988. Where he met Terry Young. his partner in crime and Life Long Best Friend. He worked as an Electrician for Gary Electric before transitioning to Occidental Petroleum in Denver City before moving to Centurian Pipeline in Midland Texas, where he found his calling. He loved being a pipeline operator and the men he worked with. To know him was to love him. Zax had the biggest heart and always offered a helping hand.

Zax is preceded in death by his father Gene and Mother Katie.

He is survived by his wife Denia, who he loved so much; sons, Stanton Mitchell McCain of Abilene, Michael and wife Brooke of Midland, Jonathon and wife Megan of Denver, Co, and favorite daughter Codee and husband Jesus of Odessa; brother Matthew McCain and wife Tammy of Midlothian; two nephews, Josh and Cade McCain, mother, Karen McCain of Midland; Best friend, Terry and Hadley Young of Belton; grandchildren, Madison, Aiden, Leo, Zeus, Deegan, Matthew, Aspen, Emerson, Kayden, Kayson, Carter, Kymber, Kendall and Jeseni; god children, Garrett, Wyatt, and  Tate Young, Michael Judd McCain and Violet Barth.

The family of Zax wishes to Extend our sincere thanks to West Texas Oncology, Midland Memorial Hospital Radiology, Hospice of Midland, and Lastly, Oncology Nurse Erin Patton at Midland Memorial Hospital for making his last moments filled with Peace and Comfort.
