Michael Smith

Michael James Smith, 56, of Odessa Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Odessa Texas.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Bartlett, a family friend, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Michael was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Shirley Wallace and Edwin (Jack) Smith on November 22, 1960. He went to school at Mt. Pleasant High School. He married Deborah Gail Smith on September 19, 1987 in Odessa, Texas. He was Vice President of the Chaney Corporation and ran every aspect of the corporation, but was primarily the supervisor at Permian and Jewelry for 30 years. He also served in the United States Army.

Michael is preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Deborah Gail Smith, his father, Edwin (Jack) Smith, and his step-father, Tom Wallace.

Michael is survived by his two daughters, Katie and Megan; two brothers, Tracy Smith and Tom Smith; one sister, Debi Kleinsmith; mother, Shirley Wallace; father and mother in laws, Weldon and Betty Chaney, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Smith, Tom Smith, Britt Parker, Cory Brooks, Todd Cook, and Craig Steen. Honorary pallbearers will be Weldon Chaney, Mike Chaney, Don Millers, Richard Story, Ronnie Raines, Gary Harris, Bruce Beaird, Dean Beeman, and Joe Cook.

Memorials may be given to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. For anyone that would like to send flowers, the florist is Cottage of Flowers.
